This work examines lives from divergent worlds, Australia and Afghanistan. In one bodies appear autonomous, operating with agency, in the other anonymous, vulnerable, their autonomy and agency in relation to, and controlled and determined by the whim of others. Each world is in turn framed and informed by larger political, economic and historical forces that connect ‘us’ and ‘them’.
Presenting these images together seeks to alter the temporal and spatial distance between disparate worlds creating an opportunity to examine our knowledge about, and beliefs and attitudes towards the lives of others.
